Helpful Books for Dealing with Young Bullies

Check out the following books to help prevent or deal with bully issues. Unless otherwise noted, all books are currently in print and available for purchase from book sellers.

  1. My Secret Bully by Trudy Ludwig – this attractive and easy to read picture book offers an excellent opportunity for young children to read about the situation of secret of bullying. It includes a discussion section and a list of steps to take as a victim.
  2. How to Deal with Bullies by Jonathan Kravetz – This informational picture book, totally appropriate for any elementary school child, defines bullying and examines different types of bullies. It also addresses being a bully and being a victim, and what to do in both cases. The book includes a glossary of terms and a related website.
  3. Little Girls Can Be Mean by Michelle Anthony and Reyna Lindert – this book, published in 2010, offers the latest information about how to “bully-proof” girls. Both of the authors hold doctorate degrees and present the information in a well organized and helpful manner. The book examines the development of social cruelty and provides very practical, easy to follow advice that many parents will find useful!
